Joyce Cheng Will Bury Her Mother Without Adam Cheng To Avoid Awkward Embarrassment
After Lydia Shum passed away, there was a focus on the reaction of the man who was the love of her life, Adam Cheng. Before today, Adam has announced through his assistant that he would be going to Vancouver for Lydia’s last journey. But the situation changed and his assistant “Ah Yan” sent text messages to the reporters announcing that Adam will honor Joyce Cheng’s wishes. He would not attend Lydia’s funeral but would go to Hong Kong for her memorial services.
Joyce lost her mom so she understands the importance of loving your family. She doesn’t have a mom anymore so she needs to take her dad’s feeling into account. Joyce does not want her dad to go because she doesn’t want Adam to exhaust himself from travel. Another reason is that Joyce considered the possibility that Adam will be yelled at by Lydia’s family and close friends. This will hurt her and Adam’s feelings.
The text message revealed that Joyce told Adam that there would be too many people at the funeral. The guest list is full. The security would not let anyone in if they are not on the list. She suggested that Adam go to the memorial service instead. Actually, Adam has a very high family status according to family relations. Joyce is being considerate of her dad so she made those arrangements.
According to information, Adam did not have any response when Lydia was gravely ill to the point of dying. This has made many of her friends and family disgruntled. Florence Su-Fen Chan exposed that Joyce did not actually receive any consolation phone calls. Insiders say the people close to Lydia kicked Adam off the funeral guest list in anger. They stopped initiating communication with him. But they would not list him as an un-welcomed guest on behalf of Lydia.
Joyce lost a close parent; she applied the “blood is thicker than water” feeling to be considerate of her dad. Even though Adam said that he called Joyce to console her after the fact. But Joyce considered Adam’s feelings and emotions and decided not to have Adam go to the funeral in the end. She would bear the burden herself and accompany Lydia on her last journey. Adam is currently staying at a hotel to film the TV series “The Book and the Sword” 《書劍恩仇錄》. He will follow his loving daughter’s arrangements.
Adam has avoided the press in the last couple of days. Ah Yan explained that Adam is very busy. Besides sleeping, he has to film long hours. He is in every scene and he has a lot of lines so he doesn’t have time to contact the press. He hopes that people can pardon him.
According to sources, there are two choices for Adam to take days off. One is to take four days off this week or take four days off at the start of March. Adam is going for the second choice. He is believed to be going to Hong Kong for the memorial services at the start of March.
Also, Lydia’s funeral services need to be hosted at a larger location. The reason is that there are over 400 family and friends who wish to attend the funeral. It includes Canadian officials, and 30 crew members from Singapore who were part of Lydia’s English series. Also Taiwanese fiends, Canadian friends and many others.
Lydia lived in Vancouver for many years. Chinese-Canadian groups asked the municipal government to posthumously commend Lydia’s contributions. The mayor of Vancouver, Sam Sullivan, described Lydia as a good friend. He admired Lydia’s acting gift. He would make a commendation statement this Tuesday. According to reliable sources, Lydia’s funeral would be held Wednesday at ten in the morning. Friday afternoon, a memorial services will be held by the Chinese-Canadian community in Vancouver.
走近人群募捐 怪客持樽投擲 薛凱琪遇襲 額腫送院
【本報訊】（記者梁靜儀）薛凱琪昨午聯同同唱片公司的周國賢及周柏豪到旺角出席於朗豪坊舉行的「麥當勞叔叔之家慈善基金日」活動，期間被一名男子以膠樽襲擊頭部，被襲的薛凱琪即時用手掩頭嗌痛，事後被送廣華醫院治療，及到警署報案，而行兇的男子亦即時遭保安人員制服，動機未明。
昨日的活動接近尾聲時，薛凱琪偕同周國賢及周柏豪齊落台義賣「童心攜手摺紙」籌款，行頭位的薛凱琪走近人群募捐，期間一名身高約五呎九吋高，頭戴CAP帽身穿黑衣的男子，突然將手上飲剩三份二樽的維他菊花茶膠樽，擲向薛凱琪頭部。被突襲的薛凱琪即時用手掩頭不停嗌好痛，而其右額位置明顯紅腫及有瘀青，工作人員見狀即護送她返回後台，而周國賢及周柏豪則繼續義賣，約十分鐘後活動才結束。至於兇徒即場被兩保安遞捕，唱片公司人員隨即報案。不久兩名醫護人員到場為薛凱琪進行初步驗查，約下午四時十分薛凱琪再被轉送廣華醫院驗傷，約四十分鐘後才步出。
相信純屬意外
薛凱琪在醫院外接受傳媒訪問，猶有餘悸的她眼泛淚光說︰「當時好突然，冇諗過佢咁大力，剩係覺得好痛、好痛，仲以為有盞燈跌落我度，傷口照過X光無事。」問到她是否有得罪人？她自言不知道，但之後會去警署報案。問到她可擔心日後人生安全？她認為無得擔心：「相信今次純屬意外，亦無得擔心，自己出席戶外活動同市民fans好近，自己fans一向都好乖，其實每次出來保安都做得好好。（可會認為是其他藝人 fans所為？)唔知，唔明白佢動機。」說畢她即淚灑當場。
兇徒心理有問題
離開醫院後薛凱琪在唱片公司人員陪同下前往旺角警署錄口供，期間唱片公司發言人透露︰「Fiona 完全記唔到當時發生咩事，只不停叫痛，傷口用冰敷已消腫，佢聽日要飛日本影唱片封套，頭先只係不停嗌『死啦、死啦、點影呀？』到時唯有用頭髮遮掩傷口。 (可會遺責兇徒？)要先了解那人動機先。」同場的周國賢事後自責不應讓Fiona行頭，他謂見到Fiona掩頭時還以為她自己撞到，見她受傷感到好心痛，幸好額頭只是腫了點無事，但事情發生好突然，感覺好恐佈。他又稱兇徒不是他們的fans，因從來未見過這個人，估計對方心理有問題。

Asks For Donation From Crowd
Stranger Throws Plastic Bottle Fiona Sit Goes to Hospital for Swollen Head
Yesterday, Fiona Sit, Endy Chow, and Pakho Chau were in Mongkok’s Langham Place for the function 「麥當勞叔叔之家慈善基金日」 (McDonald House Charity). During the function, a man threw a plastic bottle at Fiona’s head. She covered head in pain and was taken to Kwong Wah hospital for treatment. She also went to the police station to file a statement. The man was arrested by the security personnel at the scene. His motive was unknown.
Yesterday, near the end of the function, Fiona, Pakho and Endy came off stage to gather donations for the 「童心攜手摺紙」 (children’s origami) charity auction. Fiona leads the way and approach the crowd for donations. At that time, a 5’9” man with a baseball cap and black clothing hurled a 2/3 filled plastic bottle with a chrysanthemum tea towards Fiona’s head. Fiona mumbled that her head hurts as she covered her head. She had obvious bruising and swelling on the left-side of her forehead. Crew members saw it and immediately protected her and went backstage. Endy and Pakho continued to work at the charity auction. About ten minutes later, the function ended. The suspect was apprehended at the scene by two security personnel. The label immediately reported the case to the police. Not long afterwards, two medics came to the scene and performed a preliminary check on Fiona. Approximately 4:10 PM, Fiona was transferred to Kwong Wah hospital to check her injuries. They finished forty minutes later.
Fiona accepted reporters’ questions outside of the hospital. The fear was still lingering and she had tears in her eyes when she said: “It was very sudden. I didn’t think he was that strong*. It does hurt, really hurt. I thought the stage-light fell on top of me. I got an X-ray on the wound and I’m okay.” Did you offend someone? Fiona doesn’t know but she will to the police station to file a case. Would you be worried about your safety from now on? She feels that you can’t worry about it. She said: “I believe it was an accident. You can’t worry about it. You get close to the fans and crowd when you go to outdoor events. My fans have always been good. Actually, the security does well at the events. (Do you think it was done by another artiste’s fans?) Don’t know. I don’t know the motive.” She started to cry after saying it.
Fiona left the hospital and went to the Mongkok police station with workers from her label to file a statement. During that time, a representative from her label revealed: “Fiona doesn’t remember what happened. She only continuously expressed her pain. Ice was used to stop and relieve the swelling. She will be going to Japan tomorrow for a photo-shoot for the cover of her album. Just now, she was mumbling: “Oh no, oh no, how am I going to take those pictures?” She would have to use her hair to cover up the wound. (Are you going to reproach the suspect?) We need to understand his motive first.” Endy was there and he blamed himself for letting Fiona lead the way. When he saw Fiona cover her head, he thought she bumped into something. He felt really bad when he saw her in pain. Fortunately, there was only swelling on her forehead. But the incident happened very sudden; it was a horrible feeling. Endy said the suspect wasn’t one of his fans because he never saw him before. He believes that this person was mentally ill.

Stephen Fung Worried That New Movie Would Be Affected
Didn’t Decide About Cutting Edison Chen’s Scenes
Yesterday, it was the first collaboration between Stephen Fung and Karen Mok after they announced their break-up. Karen would appear in a short film that would be directed by Stephen. She would be the female lead and the male lead would be Daniel Wu. After the group pictures, Stephen left because he had to oversee the set-up. Karen and Daniel stayed to do an interview.
Stephen revealed that he didn’t make a decision about cutting Edison Chen’s scene in “Jump” yet. If you didn’t cut Edison’s scene, would you worried about the movie’s box office since the audience may be boycotting him? Stephen admitted: “Truthfully, I was worried about the movie since the start. I was in disbelief and blaming him. But he came out and gave an explanation. Even though he was wrong, he was willing to take the blame. He should be given a chance. I don’t think he would have anymore missteps.” Some people believe that Edison came out too late. Stephen was understanding of Edison and said Lincoln didn’t know what to do when he was dealing with his sex scandal.
